If you are Mexican you’ve known the hard way about this very common phrase: “no hay peor enemigo para un Mexicano que un Mexicano”. It took me this 2022 to learn that actually there’s no better friend for a Latin than a Latin herself… no matter if she’s an adopted Colombian. I’m talking about the one and only Lauren Santo Domingo, who Armand Limnander gave her the ultimate title at Latin American Fashion Summit this very last spring in Miami Beach. There’s no secret LSD has been not only an icon but a role model for all upcoming It Girls around the world. Her personal style truly inspires and her career in fashion has turned into a legacy. Now that Spring is “technically” around the corner with all Red Carpets happening, it has been a reminder of how everything started, I’m talking about my deeply admiration for Lauren. In Gossip Girl, Dan Humphrey writes about Serena wearing a white dress for Gossip Girl’s very first post… well in real life it was that Oscar de la Renta, Lauren wore for the Met’s Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations in 2012, la primera publicación con la que LSD cautivó a la audiencia y al autor de It Girl para siempre. 10 years later, I can’t believe I got my very own copy of LSD’s book in my hands and signed in front of me right in the heart of the Upper East Side, that’s why I’ve always said New York City is where all dreams come true. Cerrando el año con broche de oro, Lauren Santo Domingo junto Johanna Ortiz, ambas pioneras en el estilo de vida de una sirena latina a.k.a. barefoot glamour, presentan “Cartagena Grace” con Assouline el cual se convierte en el título dorado dentro de la icónica serie de los destinos más fabulosos para una auténtica It Girl cómo Palm Beach, Tulum, Capri, St. Tropez y la Amalfi Coast. Por supuesto el libro es un completo homenaje ó mejor dicho una carta de amor a la ciudad que ambas autoras orgullosamente llaman hogar.

Yes, this 2022 will always be the year in which I finally met my all time idol. It happened in Miami and of course I was very very excited. The waiter at the Bellini Room asked me who are you waiting for? why are you so nervous? From the bottom of my heart the only words that came out in a second were “she is the Messi of fashion, now do you understand my excitement?”. I could write a movie about how I met LSD, because that moment will always be the best one of my life. There I was waiting and waiting and I almost thought that it wasn’t going to happen but in the end Lauren appeared as fabulous as I’ve seen her in all of It Girl’s posts. The cherry on top? Fabiola Beracasa joining us.

Without wanting to reveal much about the magical pages inside the book, I mean you have to order it now at Moda –link here… I gotta say that LSD has never disappointed me, in fact with time I only admire her more not only for the fabulous friendship we both share now but for what she does for the people she cares and loves. Reading that part at the end where she thanks Charlotte Bentley and Lizzy Hoffman, both part of LSD’s team just showed how fantastic and authentic Lauren Santo Domingo truly is XOXO💋

La fiesta en Casa Cruz obvio fue la escena del momento. En plena magia de diciembre, Nueva York habrá sido el destino para pedir un deseo con las luces de Park Avenue pero sin duda alguna los atardeceres de Cartagena en sus playas se convirtieron en la próxima parada en la agenda para 2023. Quién conoce a Juan Santa Cruz sabe que no hay mejor anfitrión para una night out en el mundo y bueno con Roger Federer cómo invitado, la noche terminó en un total highlight para It Girl.

Celebrando el nuevo libro de Lauren Santo Domingo y Johanna Ortiz con Assouline, las It Girls originales de Manhattan cómo Fabiola Beracasa Beckman y Nicky Hilton no podían faltar para decir “cheers” ó bueno cómo ya dice LSD: “salud” en Casa Cruz New York con los Aperol más chic, muy al estilo de Moda Operandi.

Hablando de Moda Operandi, las Modettes fueron las encargadas de lucir propiamente el código barefoot glamour but winterized it en la celebración de “Cartagena Grace” realizada dentro de Casa Cruz New York. Por parte de Assouline, Alexandre Assouline cómo siempre iba guapísimo, en esta ocasión acompañado de su prometida Solange Pin, ambos fueron el tema con su próxima boda y obvio las miradas no dejaron de voltear a ver al espectacular anillo de compromiso.

Las Modettes no sólo fueron las únicas que robaron cámara, Karlie Kloss y Dasha Zhukova acompañadas por Derek Blasberg junto con Vanessa Traina y Ana Khouri se apoderaron del salón en el quinto piso diseñado por la mismísima Johanna Ortiz y en palabras de Juan Santa Cruz “todo obra de Johanna” refiriéndose al diseño y la ambientación.
